Summary
Safe Haven is a
romantic and mysterious book, written by Nicholas Sparks.
Katie comes to a small town in North Carolina called Southport. There she
has a little, old abandoned cottage. She doesn’t seem like she wants to talk
much to people, and she especially doesn’t want to talk about her past. She starts out working at Ivan’s, the
main restaurant that all the locals eat at, where she made her living. She
always went down to the local grocery store owned by a man named Alex with his
two kids, Josh and Kristin. Her only friend is her neighbor next door, Jo. She’s
always wanting to talk, and is nice to Katie. Katie had brown hair and was frail
she was thin to the bone. She never really had a lot of money which makes you
wonder about her past. She would go to the grocery store and try to find the
cheapest food items as possible. Alex took notice to her, and could not keep his
eyes off of her. Finally Alex’s daughter Kristen started to talk to Katie about
her picture she drew, and as Katie got more talkative to her, Alex became more
talkative as well. Alex and Katie became good friends. They would go on dates,
and do activities with the kids. Jo was the first person that Katie started to
unfold her tragic past to. She told Jo that she was married to a detective named
Kevin. She told Jo that Kevin abused her and made her his slave. Katie escaped
Kevin with a devious plan that she hoped Kevin would never find her again. Kevin
soon finds Katie and stalks her. She has no idea until she dreams of Kevin
walking towards her.
